The Loon Lake – Inland Lake Donkey Camp

On July 19, 2009 I ventured out in the boat on Loon Lake – Inland Lake as I heard about railroad tracks heading into the water at the other end. I suspected that it was the base camp for the sunken boat I found and posted earlier, so out I went. I located the tracks as you will see in the pictures, and I did search the area and although well travelled it seems almost everyone was oblivious to the surrounding history. Although I did not have to to do much in the lines of digging, I did find a view things with the help of a couple of people, The Carlsons and their friends.

On location is the original water tank that fed more than likely the steam donkey which I have not located as of yet, it will be there if the steel rails are,  or at least the donkey sled will be, so on the next trip a digging for relics I will go.

A friend of mine and I decided to return to the site of what I suspected was a Donkey Camp on Loon Lake – Inland Lake and we did so on July 25, 2009. I do suspect that this camp was based around 1928 to 1932 at the North end of the lake, and this camp was the main camp as we did find many items of interest’s here.  We did not have to venture far to find the old Camp dump, or at least the dump for the metal. Some items we have no idea what they are, some we can only suspect what they are, but the boot was the interesting find.

I took a small video of the Old Water Tank
