You all know how the adventure starts, first you hear or read a story, the story itself sometimes is not much, but the imagination takes over, sooner or later you sometimes go on that adventure. The story I was told about involved some old steam shovels, somewhere between Theodosia and Powell Lake, so one day off I go, with a friend of course as you should never ride alone.
We are told where these are, more or less, we went up a few roads, some right to immediate dead-ends, and others to snow so deep its impossible to get through and after trying to find and unable to locate the 3 steam shovels in Theodosia we decided to take a trip into Olson Valley.
Its about 32 km from South View Rd on the quad, a few tricky sections, one we have nicknamed Pirates Cliff pass because you almost have to be crazy to go up and over it (apparently I’m almost crazy). Driving down the Olson Mainline and somewhere around km 5, we spotted something in the bush, and it was a nice find.
Unsure of the year, but it appears to me a mobile spar-tree or a yarder of some sort, mostly intact, yes the engine is still in it, as with a lot of the other parts, amazing to look over this machine.
The inside of this logging machine has one seat, and a very, very small compartment, I just can not imagine working in this all day, everyday, but I know someone did.
It was fun crawling all over that machine, lots of very interesting pieces of equipment here, Im glad we spotted this, enjoy the rest of the pics.
